Half the fun is making them- Other half is using them! Lavender is many people’s favorite essential oil, so it makes a great choice to add to recipe. Great gift idea for Mom, and make a few for yourself as well!

Beautiful, easy to make Bath Bombs for Mother's Day gift!

1. Figure out your “molds”. Look around the house, I found I had these small disposable cups that worked great. They even came with lids. Ice cube tray or muffin tin would work as well. Don’t want to mess with the molds? See this easy fizzing bath salts recipe: Make your Own Fun Fizzing Bath Salts for Kids It works great for Mom’s as well!

2. Assemble ingredients- Baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, Epsom or sea salts, optional food coloring, optional essential oil, and witch hazel. The citric acid I found in the canning section of store or health food store,or you could order on line at: http://www.hillbillystills.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CA1PB&click=3857&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=shoppingengine

3. Make the Recipe: Mix the following dry ingredients in Bowl. Mix Well! Baking Soda 8oz, Citric Acid 4 oz, Cornstarch 4 oz, Epsom or sea salts (non-iodized) 4 oz. Separate small bowl mix the wet ingredients: 1 tbslp water, 20 drops essential oil, 10 drops food coloring. For other great bath bomb recipes see: http://teachsoap.com/making-bath-bombs/

4. Now the interesting part! Add the moisture a bit at a time stirring well. The mixture needs to be wet enough to barely smush together in a clump. If needed add small t spoons of witch hazel and stir. This is tricky- If too much moisture, then you set off the fizzing reaction. If this happens, quick add a little more baking soda to “dry” it up a bit. If the mixture is too dry, you won’t be able to press it into a mold. Press mixture into mold. After a few minutes, pop out of mold and let dry 3-4 hours. Voila!

5. Decorate with paper doilies, lace, colored paper, whatever crafty items you have on hand. Bomb should be stored in airtight container, or wrapped in plastic. Congratulations! Add to bath, watch it fizz, and enjoy!

Most of us love our shower time- hot water cleansing, invigorating, waking us up time! The heat helps to stimulate our circulatory & lymphatic system. It also heats up our muscles and connective tissue- a great preparatory step for stretching and increasing our flexibility. By adding some yoga poses as you shower you can build a great habit alongside an already existing routine, thus enhancing both. These 6 Easy Yoga Poses take only a few minutes to incorporate as you’re washing & conditioning your hair or lathering up & rinsing off.
“When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes us feel loved and cared for, but it helps us to develop inner happiness and peace.” the 14th Dalai Lama (1935)

“Kindness, I’ve discovered is everything in life.” Isaac B. Singer

Small acts of kindness, simply performed throughout your day can surprisingly connect us to ourselves, others, our pets, our planet. The great thing about it is you don’t need to go far- most often it’s right in front of you. No need to feel you need to take on the whole world with large, overwhelming and noble deeds. Pick up the piece of trash, say thank you to a clerk, allow a car to pass and join in your traffic lane. Simple. Expect nothing in return. You may be amazed at how this shifts your perspective, your attitude.

In the big picture, we are all connected. Feeling isolated is only because we’ve forgotten. Challenge yourself to incorporate this simple practice– small acts of kindness (& include yourself as a recipient) in your day. Nameste.

Whenever you are around water it amplifies intuition. The body is the perfect intuitive receptor because it is two-thirds water. Intuition is a fluid movement, a wave movement, and the body is constantly moving in waves." Judith Orloff, M.D.

For thousands of years many civilizations have used water in combination with prayer or meditation to connect to Spirit. In many cultures water is considered sacred, used to prepare, purify, bless the presence of the Divine. Famous examples include: The Healing waters of Lourdes in France, the Ganges River in India for Kumbha Mela purifying bath, the sacred pools around Egyptian temples, Baptism Ceremonies.

There’s something about water that represents life-giving energy, whether you drink it, bathe in it, irrigate crops, or watering livestock. We are born into this world emerging from our mother’s womb, a sack of amniotic fluid, our first bath.

“Until recently, water was one of the most universal spiritual concepts on our planet. Buried somewhere in every culture is the idea that water is divine, life-giving, healing, cleansing, renewing.” states authors Rosita Aruigo & Nadine Epstein in their book, “Spiritual Bathing”.

Creating your own healing water bath ritual can be done with the simplest of ingredients: A bathtub of warm-to-hot water, prayer, and perhaps a flower or herb, and ritual. A spiritual bath can be used to wash away the negative effects of stress, exhaustion, abuse, fear, sadness, grief, or anger.

Easy steps to create your own Healing Bath Ritual:

1. Run a bath and add flowers or herbs or your choice to the water, or use 6-12 drops of an essential oil of your choice. see: Fun with Flower Baths or Essential Oils for the Bath and Skin

2. Acknowledge the gift of nature in this plants aroma or beauty. Immerse yourself in the bath.

3. Acknowledge the many blessings that water has in your life.

4. Bring your attention or awareness to your breath. Closely observe your body breathing.

5. Compose a prayer, intention, or mantra and repeat it several times either silently or out loud.

6. Consider the option of praying without words- praying with silence.

7. Breathe close to the water surface. See/feel the vibration of your breath on the water.

8. Imagine/feel you are surrounded by Spirit, the Divine. Feel embraced, loved, and warmed.

Ever feel the need to detoxify? Perhaps you over did the holiday drinking & eating or a prolonged period of stress? A detox bath with ginger can increase heat levels in the body. This ups the level of sweating which removes toxins and flushes out our pores. Ginger has anti-inflammatory & anti oxidant qualities. Ginger’s wonderfully aromatic fragrance can help to shake cold and flu symptoms by revving up your immune system.

Fresh grated ginger (1/2 cup) or powdered ginger (1 Tblsp) can be used. Put the ginger in a pan of water and boil for 10 min. Let it steep for another 10 min or more. Strain and add to hot running bath water. Immerse yourself into this wonderful warmth and sweat for about 20 min! Increase the detoxifying effects by adding 1 cup of Epsom salts and some deep breathing as you relax back!

Drink plenty of water before & after your bath. Maybe enjoy a cup of ginger tea for clearing congestion of stimulating good digestion. Once you get out your skin may be pink, circulation stimulated. If you have sensitive skin do a skin test first for reactivity. You may continue to sweat for 1/2 hr or more after your bath. Prepare to sleep like a baby after!

To increase you immune/lymphatic flow during the bath see:How Lymphatic Self Massage Can Keep You Healthy

or: Epsom Salt Detoxifying Soak
