Arthritis Hand & Wrist Exercises As You Soak

According to the Arthritis Foundation, 1 in 5 Adults are affected by arthritis making it the leading cause of disability in the US. Carpal Tunnel syndrome affects the wrists of 4-10 million Americans. Soaking in your tub can relax muscles & bring added circulation and mobility to our joints. Therapeutic exercises can help increase our range of motion, flexibility, and reduce joint pain. Together these 2 powerful therapies – Hot water soaking and Arthritis hand & wrist exercises can bring relief  as you enjoy & relax!

The morning hours may be the best time to practice in loosen up from a stiff night’s sleep. Soaking time recommended: 20 minutes. It’s a great way to start your day!

Note* Consult your Physician before starting any therapy or exercise. Avoid hot tub soaking if you have high blood pressure, heart conditions, or are pregnant.

6 Easy Therapeutic Stretches- (see video)

1.  Knuckle Bend- about 10 times

2.  Thumb Stretch- about 10 times

3.  Finger pull Back- each digit- one time

4.  Interlaced Fingers -Stretch Arms Forward. Hold for 3 deep breaths.

5.  Hands on Back, Finger Pointing Up. Hold for 3 more deep breaths.

6.  Wrist Figure 8’s- several times each direction
